non-executive director
Kobus is a retiree residing on a small farm in the picturesque Schoemanskloof region of Mpumalanga, near the City of Mbombela. He operates a guest farm and engages in small-scale macadamia nut farming.
Throughout his professional career, Kobus held senior management positions in a leading corporation within the travel industry, specializing in finance, commercial operations, and supplier/service provider relations.
Kobus became involved with Malamulele Onward in 2005 at the invitation of Dr Gillian Saloojee, who requested his participation in a pilot project supporting children with cerebral palsy in rural communities. Following his initial volunteer outreach, Kobus contributed to the establishment of Malamulele Onward as a non-profit organization, serving as one of its founding members and acting as a non-executive director since its inception.
Over time, Malamulele Onward developed into an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children with cerebral palsy and their families through innovative solutions and training initiatives. As a director, Kobus has played an active role in this evolution, providing strategic guidance at the board level and fulfilling the responsibilities of treasurer by overseeing the organization’s financial matters.
Kobus and his wife are enthusiastic nature lovers and avid travelers, favoring remote destinations and lesser-known routes across Southern Africa, which they explore via 4×4 vehicle or adventure motorcycle.
